Group Presentations Reflections
When working as a team many factors have to be taken into consideration in order to achieve success as a whole. The ability to communicate and understand is a very valuable quality necessary for one's overall success. After carefully listening to each group's presentations I have learned a huge amount of things in regards of effective team work and if done right, the success that may come with it. I think all groups were able to achieve their goal and completed their presentation exceptionally.
Group 1 was assigned chapter 3. I think the group was very successful in separating the individual work so that everyone had an equal chance to speak. Chapter 3 talks about Intercultural Communications which to quickly summarize discusses the challenges faced by people from different cultures. These cultural differences may lead overlaps in beliefs and ideologies. This group also incorporated examples of ways in which speaking may be influenced by one's culture. I believe the example used was a perfect one as it perfectly described a situation that happens very often. The group also touched down on the ideology of code switch which is used to describe someone's sudden change of speaking technique according to who they are with and I can completely relate to this.
Group 2, which is my group, was assigned chapter 9. It was very pleasing to work in my group because I believe we were able to achieve a great level of communication so the presentation went very smoothly for us. group 2 touched down on topics such as group ranks and brainstorming in groups. The group ranking process is a very hard and delicate one as if done wrong may throw the whole group off balance. During this process, ideas class and personalities battle as they find their way into figuring out where everyone fits in within the group. I think my group learned a lot from this chapter and we were able to apply what we learned into the group and that's why we were eventually successful at the end.
Lastly but not least, group 3 was assigned in presenting chapter 10. Chapter 10 focuses on group leadership and the responsibilities of having that role as well as the consequences of having bad communication within a group. The group touched down on the fact that without communication a group will not succeed and will eventually fall apart due to the massive clash of ideas but lack of understanding. The presentation also showed that the group may be constructed of givers, seekers, and analyzers which if each do their job right, may lead to a smooth flow throughout the whole presentation. I think this group had the smoothest presentation as they transition from presenter to presenter very easily.
Very nice. I am so glad you enjoyed l working with your group.
